Our Core Values: Nationhood, Sovereignty, Justice & Democracy

At the heart of Eritreans for Justice & Democracy (EFJD) are values that unite us as a people and give meaning to our struggle. These values are not abstract ideals — they are the foundations of Eritrea’s survival and the promise of its future.

Nationhood

Eritrea is one nation, born of sacrifice and resilience. Our nationhood is not defined by tribe, religion, or region — it is defined by the shared history and destiny of its people. EFJD stands for an Eritrea that belongs equally to all its citizens, where diversity is celebrated and unity is protected.

Sovereignty

True sovereignty means more than guarding borders. It means political independence, economic self-reliance, and the freedom of our people to shape their own destiny. EFJD rejects external interference and internal domination alike. Sovereignty without justice is empty — sovereignty with justice is strength.

Justice & Democracy

Justice is the right of every Eritrean — to live free from fear, to have their dignity respected, and to see accountability when wrongs are committed. Democracy is the system that safeguards that justice, ensuring no one rules above the people. EFJD is committed to building democratic institutions, protecting rights, and creating space for the voices of all Eritreans.

Why These Values Matter

Eritrea cannot survive on power politics alone. A nation without justice fractures. Sovereignty without democracy erodes. Democracy without nationhood collapses. EFJD holds that only when these values stand together can Eritrea thrive as a secure, free, and prosperous country.
